Has Interwire Been Shrinking? was created by Archived Forum Admin
Is it my imagination or has the Interwire commercial part of the show been shrinking over the last four years? The obvious symptoms are more aisles, wider aisles and more open spaces.
One friend suggested to me that it had shrunk by an estimated 40% in that time period.
What do you think?

Yes, Interwire exhibitor space has contracted over the past two cycles by approximately 35%. As you know, the economic pressures of wire and cable markets throughout the Americas have changed the landscape for suppliers and therefore Interwire. While considered temporary, the capital equipment market, which is an important factor in Interwire floor space, has been soft.
As the industry rebounds, we expect the floor space to increase as well. In the meantime, the Suppliers Management Committee and some 100+ other volunteers are continuously working to ensure that Interwire continues to serve the industry. Their efforts are reflected in the evolving technical program, the floor-side briefings, the plant tours, the opening reception and the general operation of the show.

Thank you Steven for the information. We thought that this recent downsizing should be out in the open and not kept behind closed doors. Your direct candor is very much appreciated and we look forward to future and hopefully expanded Interwire shows .

Yes it was smaller but it was a nice show from my perspective. Hopefully the American economy will continue to improve and not all manufacturing sent off shore. I like all of our international friends, I just think that some CEO's are short sighted and while they may be helping their company's bottom line for the stockholdrs, they are possibly endangering the rest of us.

Maybe Mr. Fetteroll can address the overall attendance at Interwire 2005 versus Interwire 2003??
