Wow, that is a very good question.
We suggest you discuss this with your EPDM/ EPR supplier and perhaps with one or two extruder manufacturers and then let us all know what the latest thinking is. It would be really great if you got involved and helped others watching this particular thread.

Hello Sr.
We have already received a screw manufactured by Genca. The screw was manufactured for a Davis Standard extruder (6" 24:1). The screw has a low compression ratio (1.2) and a barrier flight located in the compression zone of the screw. We have tested the screw using EPDM and NBR as compounds and the power consumption of the main motor of the extruder went down more than 50%.
