Cure value of cv cure xlpe cores was created by Archived Forum Admin
Can any one suggest how one can improve upon the hot set value(percentage elongation) of cured XLPE cores which fall on the borderline?

Dear Peter,

I think I have not expressed myself correctly. What I meant was I HAVE ALREADY PRODUCED A FEW KILOMETERS OF CORE WHEREIN I AM GETTING HOT SET VALUES AROUND 175% to 180%-may be the preheater failed...is there any process by which I can improve these values to around 110% to 125% ?

With kindest regards,
R.C.Jhalani

From the comment it seem that you are talking about CV cured cores. In mean peroxide cure cables, the relation is very critical in between the temperature and half life of peroxide.

When we using pre-heater, we are actually supplying heat internally or in other words we are keeping the material and external heat for activating the peroxide breakdown. As the process was activated but remained uncompleted due to insufficient heat sum because of pre-heater trip, you keep the insulated core in some hot environment or as it is for some days. You will find the improvement.

You can use degassing chambers for this purpose.
