Wire cloth / space cloth application for rotary sc was created by Archived Forum Admin
I am Mohammed G Vasi from India.
I would like to know whether selecting a SS 304 wire cloth / space cloth is better than going for SS 304 perforated sheet / plate for Rotary Screens.
The Rotary Screens are proposed to be used for screening Municipal Solid Waste COMPOST.
There are three seperate screens of sizes 6mm, 25mm, 100mm for each Screening Plant.
Screen dimension is same for all the above.
i.e. 1m Dia x 4m Length Drum.
Also I am unawares as to how to select the optimum wire size for the above screens.
The screening load for the above type of screens is as below for various plants.
6 Tons Per Hr Screening Plant
5 Tons Per Hr Screening Plant
1 Tons Per Hr Screening Plant
0.75 Tons Per Hr Screening Plant
0.5 Tons Per Hr Screening Plant

We sent your request to one of our member engineers who is in the wire cloth manufacturing industry and his answer was not encouraging. This area is very specialized and it may take some time for an answer to be posted.

The wire screen cloth has many advantages against the perforated sheet maily its flexibility to handle.
There are several manufacturers of this product which could make the right cloth for that application .
In India:
Raajratna MetalIndustries Ltd
909 Sakar-lll
Ahmedabad,Gujarat 380014
Tel 91-797-543-681 to 84
www.raajirattna.com
Rakesh Dewan Gen. Mgr.
If neccesary in the Wire Association reference guide under SCREEN CLOTH WIRE ( 62900 ) you will find many manufacurers in different places

Here is the reply I received from The American Wire Cloth Institute"

"Thank you for your interest in the American Wire Cloth Institute (AWCI). Unfortunately, the question posed by Mohammed Vasi can not be simply answered. For the most part, equipment manufacturers specify filter media for their equipment based on design and production requirements. Screen manufacturers can suggest alternative products to address certain production or service issues, but there is really not enough information included below to hazard an informed recommendation.
Screen specifications are available at www.wirecloth.com - including a calculator to compare opening, wire diameter, and open area relationships.
In general, woven wire cloth can offer more throughput than perforated materials of similar opening size, but beyond that, we would need the rotary screen manufacturer, make and model identification, specifications of the perforated material now in use, specifications and design of any support media, characteristics of the compost material, and proposed or desired characteristics of the filtrate. With this information, we may be able to make some suggestions. It may also be a good idea to contact the equipment manufacturer for their opinion.
Thank you for your consideration.
