Foam Skin PE Insulation compound was created by Archived Forum Admin
Our customer wants Insulation material acc. to DIN EN 5090-2-23 (VDE 0819) table 2, Column A (HD 624.3). I have to respond urgently and can't wait to buy this standard. Can someone let me know the properties required as per the above standard.

Hello Again Shekhar,
In an emergency, wouldn't it be really easy to phone your suppliers (Borealis, Dow Europe) of foam PE and solid PE for the skin and simply ask their tech people if their normal products meet that DIN spec. If not, do they have any other recommendations? Then get them to confirm all by fax. That seems pretty fast and straightforward to me.
In the meantime you can buy the appropriate DIN specifications for your library. The search page is here: www.din.de/cmd?level=tpl-home&contextid=din&languageid=en
It appears however that you made an error in referencing the DIN Spec. I believe the correct specification number should be: DIN EN 50290-2-23; VDE 0819-103:2002-07 and it replaces the now obsolete DIN VDE 0819-103:1995-02
I located your specification at: www.beuth.de/langanzeige/DIN+EN+50290-2-...searchaccesskey=MAIN and is described as DIN EN 50290-2-23; VDE 0819-103:2002-07
Communication cables - Part 2-23: Common design rules and construction; PE insulation; German version EN 50290-2-23:2001 The cost? 22.86 Euros

Peter,
Sometimes the answer or way to find an answer is too easy. I guess you have to be an old dog (like us) to know that you should be able to call one or more of your suppliers or potential suppliers and they would normally be delighted to give you the information or at least let you know the answer. I also found that sometimes a company that is not your supplier will probably be quicker to help than your supplier.
